Wages range from $19.50 to $21.50 per hourMachinist Interns will work at Sierra Pacific Industries’ Shelton Fabrication Shop alongside experienced machinists and engineers to support the setup, programming, and operation of CNC and manual machines. This internship is ideal for individuals interested in hands-on manufacturing, machining processes, and precision metalworking.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with general setup and operation of CNC/manual Mills and Lathes in an industrial setting
- Write and edit CNC programs based on prints and verbal instructions
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
- Gain experience working with various steels, aluminums, and plastics
- Rotate through various hands-on processes in a full fabrication and machining shop
- Perform other duties as required by supervisor/Leadership
Qualifications- Strong math or applied math skills
- Enjoy working with hands and building mechanical components
- Shop experience or exposure to industrial environments
- Coursework in machining (high school or college)
- Preference to those with basic understanding of machining or CNC operations
- Preference to those with familiarity with coordinate systems and calculating ratios
- Preference to those with strong computer skills and comfort with Windows-based systems
Base Location: Shelton, Washington
